Since the release of Windows 8 in October 2012, I have read many articles, Facebook posts, and tweets on the Internet criticizing Windows 8 and blaming the operating system for low PC sales. All of this has led me to the conclusion that many people don't really realize that Windows 8 is not just about a new look, but that there are many features and improvements that make this version of Microsoft's operating system the biggest change since Windows 95.

Windows 11: Upgrade process from Windows 7
That's why I decided to create a list of 18 features that explain why upgrading to Windows 8 is the right move and in which the new operating system performs better than previous versions.
While the first thing you'll notice is how different it looks with its new Metro-style interface and new apps, I'm not going to judge the book by its cover, but will briefly (but thoroughly) discuss what I think makes Windows 8 great software. (The list is not in any particular order.)
This is incredible. Remember when you could make a cup of coffee in the time it took Windows to boot? Today, Windows 8 boots in a matter of seconds. This is possible thanks to the implementation of a feature called Fast Boot Mode, which is a hybrid between the traditional cold boot and hibernation.
