Microsoft update for Windows 7 in 2024!

The new change comes just in time, considering that Microsoft will soon end mainstream support for Windows 7 without a service pack. And to ensure that customers continue to receive support, the software giant has decided to deliver Service Pack 1 as an automatic update – something that in the past required user authorization.

Microsoft mentioned the new change in a new article on the Blogging Windows site, where the software giant also detailed that the new update will be slowly rolled out over the coming weeks, starting with customers who are still using the "Release To Manufacturing" (RTM) version of the operating system. However, this does not apply to PCs running in a managed environment, such as one managed by Systems Center Configuration Manager (SCCM), WSUS, or others. These PCs will not be affected by the change.

Keep in mind that Windows 7 Service Pack 1 (originally released in February 2011) is not intended to bring any new features to the operating system, but is simply a cumulative package of security and enhancement updates that will ensure functionality and ongoing support for Windows 7 at least until 2015. For those hoping or waiting, Microsoft has already said that there will be no Windows 7 Service Pack 2 (SP2).
