Windows 10 Build 16251: Hands-on experience with Phone-PC shortcut, Cortana, Skip Ahead and more
For the Windows 10 Threshold 2 update, Microsoft seems to be planning to allow Windows Phone users to send SMS messages from the desktop. In the latest preview build of the operating system, we can see Microsoft adding a feature that will let Cortana notify you when you've missed a call, which shows that the company is bringing the desktop and phone experiences closer together. In addition, users also seem to be able to send SMS messages when the update is available to everyone.
A new video from WinBeta shows the new feature in action and we have to admit that it works practically flawlessly. All you have to do is say "Hey Cortana: Send a text" and the assistant will launch and ask who you want to send the SMS text to. After reviewing the message, you can say "Send" to complete the process.
To send SMS messages, you can use your voice or type the message manually.
