Instructions: Getting started with the Facebook Timeline
Facebook Timeline is an overhaul of the Facebook profile we all know and love. As you may recall, the company unveiled Timeline at the F8 conference in September. The big difference from the old profile design is that Timeline displays your entire life on Facebook in chronological order, where you can also update missing and important events from the past and scroll back to when you were born. You can think of Facebook Timeline as a scrapbook of your online life.
The Activity Log is a new tool included in the Timeline that allows you to change aspects of what appears in your Timeline. From there, you can hide or delete posts, or set posts to Featured status.
But the good comes with a bad side: Many users are embracing the Facebook Timeline, but others are not so happy, fearing that the company will now demand more personal information and that all of users' personal data will be more easily accessible, which in turn could lead to identity theft.
