Windows 11: Create and restore a full backup on an external USB stick (2024)
UPDATED 03/08/2024: If you are not careful while editing the registry on Windows 11, many problems can occur, so it is important to create a backup of the entire registry.
The Registry is an essential component of Windows 11. It is a hierarchical database that stores the low-level settings of the operating system and applications that are designed to use that database. You should never make changes to the system database. However, sometimes it may be necessary to modify the database to fix problems or tweak settings that you wouldn't otherwise be able to make.
If you want to make system changes (e.g. remove the Gallery page File Explorer, restore the old context menu, disable Microsoft Defender Antivirus, run programs during startup, etc.), Windows 11 offers at least two ways to create a backup and restore the registry using System Restore and Registry Editor.
