Have you ever worried that your files and folders might fall into the wrong hands due to theft or hackers? One handy feature that can help you with this is the BitLocker Drive Encryption feature in Windows 7. BitLocker is a feature included in the Ultimate and Enterprise editions of the Windows Vista and Windows 7 operating systems that lets you encrypt an entire storage drive with a password, thus protecting those irreplaceable files and folders.

Windows 11: Enable BitLocker Drive Encryption

BitLocker allows you to encrypt the entire drive where Windows is installed (internal drive) or any other storage drive where your data is located. This feature has also been enhanced for Windows 7 with the introduction of BitLocker To Go. This gives you the additional ability to protect with encryption all of your hard work that you may have stored on those easily lost portable storage devices like external hard drives or USB sticks.

It's so simple and convenient: once BitLocker is configured and enabled on the storage device of your choice, all the files and folders you create and store are automatically encrypted and protected, and no one else can access them.

In this tutorial I will show you how to configure BitLocker To Go. It should be the same for BitLocker hard drives.
