Windows 11: Enable NEW tabs for File Explorer
UPDATED 01/09/2023: On Windows 11 22H2, you can now enable tabs in File Explorer version 22H2. The feature works just like in Microsoft Edge. You can open multiple tabs for any section of File Explorer, folder, or drive. You also have the option to create new tabs or close open tabs, and the feature works in dark mode.
Additionally, File Explorer has been updated with a redesigned layout for the left navigation pane. The design organization provides easy access to pinned and frequently used folders and OneDrive cloud profiles that now show the user name associated with the account. Also, the familiar folders (Documents, Downloads, Music, Pictures, etc.) are no longer shown under This PC to keep the view focused on the drives.
If you want to try out tabs and the new navigation pane, you will need to install the latest system update for Windows 11 or use a third-party tool called “ViVeTool” created by Rafael Rivera and Lucas on GitHub to enable the new experience on your computer.
