Windows 11: Enable End Task in the taskbar to close unresponsive apps
UPDATED 6/3/2024: Windows 11 now offers an End Task option in the taskbar to close unresponsive apps. However, you'll need to enable this option manually, and this guide will show you how. Starting with version 23H2, Windows 11 offers the ability to quickly end unresponsive apps without opening Task Manager, with a new End Task option in the app button context menu on the taskbar.
Usually, you can close an app by clicking the Close (X) button in the top right corner or by using the File menu with the Exit, Close, or Quit options. However, if a problem occurs and the app stops responding, you will need to open the Task Manager app and find and close the process to quit the app.
While this is a simple process, it requires a few extra steps and is not straightforward for most users, so Windows 11 adds a new End Task option, but you will need to manually enable it in the For Developers settings.
