If you are an early adopter and want to install Windows 8 Developer Preview, the best way to do it is to create a virtual machine. You can use VMware Workstation (read this article to learn more). You can also use VirtualBox (the program we will be using today), a program from Oracle that works in the same way as VMware or other types of virtualization software.

Installing Windows 8 Developer Preview on VirtualBox (time lapse)
Okay, first the bad news. I've done some testing and it seems that you need a CPU that supports hardware virtualization technology like VT-x/AMD-V to install this preview version of Windows. If you don't have those settings enabled, you'll get some nasty error messages and most likely you won't be able to run Windows 8 – but you can still try using VMware Workstation from the link I mentioned earlier.
Aside from support for hardware virtualization technology, once you create the virtual machine, you'll need to configure some custom settings and hopefully you'll be able to run Windows in no time.
