Enable the classic start menu in Windows 8
I am one of the many users who really like the way Windows 8 is developing: the new Metro-style design and Chrome-free apps, the Ribbon Office-style menu, the new storage areas, the Reset and Refresh PC feature, and all the other features included in the upcoming version of Microsoft's operating system.
Aside from all the good features, there are many users who don't like the new Start screen or as most people know it, the "Start Menu". In a previous article, I showed you how to disable the Start screen and restore the old Start menu with a simple change in Windows Regedit and with just one click using a gadget called StartMenu. Those are great solutions, but how about an old-style Start menu that lists all your programs without you having to leave the Windows desktop, while still keeping the Metro-style Start screen? I think that can be convincing for many users.
Essentially, you can do this by adding a simple toolbar to the right side of the taskbar that lists all the applications in Windows 8 and automatically updates when a new application is installed. Read on to learn more.
