How to merge a Skype® account with a Microsoft® account on Mac® OS X™
The ability to link Skype to a Microsoft account has been around for a while. The linking was supposed to simplify the sign-in process, offer better integration with Outlook for merging your contacts, and now you can even use your Skype ID to sign in to other services like Xbox Live, Office, OneDrive, and more.
The problem is that even after linking both accounts, you can still access your Skype account using your old credentials, which is less secure than using a Microsoft account, which offers better security and two-factor authentication.
If you want to make your Skype account more secure and reduce the number of login credentials you need to remember, you can merge the accounts so that you only need one password to access all Microsoft services, including Skype.
