Perhaps one of the most profound changes in Windows 8.1 is the new search feature, powered by Microsoft's Bing search engine. I've been using Windows 8.1 for a while now and I must say that search has improved tremendously. However, the new feature is deeply integrated with Bing by default and uses geographic locations to customize web suggestions, with a moderate option to filter out content that isn't appropriate.

Windows 8.1 – How to adjust search settings
Although these default settings are preferable, there are users who are not comfortable with them due to privacy concerns or other reasons. So here's how to change the default settings in Windows 8.1.
First, you need to go to the new search settings page, use the keyboard shortcut +I, click or tap Change PC settings and navigate to Search and apps. Here you will find several interesting options that you can customize, such as:
The first option you will notice is the search history. As in Windows 8, to delete all the search terms saved on the PC, all you have to do is click the "Delete" button (see image below).
