How to remove Dell's eDellroot Superfish root certificate
First it was Lenovo, then Samsung, and now Dell is the third computer company to put its customers at risk by installing a root certificate on numerous laptops, leaving a security hole that can be exploited.
Computer programmer Joe Nord was the first to discover a new self-signed security root certificate called "eDellRoot." After numerous tests, he found that the certificate works very similarly to the Lenovo Superfish incident.
Perhaps the biggest problem is that all of the affected computers, such as the Dell Inspiron 5000 and the XPS 15, have the same certificate. This means that an attacker could easily use the same private key to compromise any Dell computer that has the certificate in question pre-installed.
