Speed up File Explorer in Windows 11 (trick)
In Windows 11, you can make File Explorer open folders containing large amounts of files faster with a simple registry change. In this guide, I'll show you how to do it.
It's no secret that File Explorer is slow to render the contents of folders, especially in folders with a mix of file formats or folders shared on the network. The problem is that by default, the app always tries to determine the file type in each folder, which introduces a delay that makes File Explorer seem sluggish.
The solution to this problem is to force File Explorer not to scan the contents and show all folders as containers with common items. You can do this by disabling file type analysis via the registry, as the app does not include an option to do so in the settings.
