If you accidentally merged your Skype profile with a Microsoft account, don't panic. All you need to do is unlink Skype from the Microsoft account and then sign in to the Windows 8-style Skype app again with the correct email address and you'll be fine.

Most likely, this won't be a problem, but you should know that after unlinking Skype, you won't find contacts from the previous account in your profile.
Also, keep in mind that if you have been using Skype for a long time, your purchases will not be affected. However, if you created a new account with a Microsoft account, you may lose all the Skype products you have purchased. If this is the case for you and you need to unmerge the two accounts, I recommend that you contact Skype customer support.
I've written about the topic of account merging before, but back then it was a bit complicated as you had to contact customer service to do it. However, now Microsoft seems to have listened to user feedback and is offering an easy way to fix this problem for many.
