Internet Explorer is being discontinued
Microsoft has announced that it is retiring Internet Explorer (IE) on Windows 10 after more than two and a half decades. Although the company has already moved to Microsoft Edge, a modern and more powerful browser, it has kept IE so that businesses can continue to access older sites and services. However, everything will be retired on June 15, 2022.
In an announcement on the Windows blog, the company said that the desktop version of Internet Explorer 11 will no longer be supported for all consumer versions of Windows 10 on June 15, 2022. However, the operating system's Long-Term Servicing Channel (LTSC) will continue to ship with the browser for the foreseeable future.
While the best approach going forward would be to make the necessary plans to update these older websites and services, Microsoft offers IE Mode as an alternative solution for businesses.
