Microsoft seems to finally be rolling out the Surface Pro 2 firmware update to fix previous issues, according to social media and online forums. But here's the thing, ZDNet also reports that sources familiar with the matter said that this firmware update could be one of several updates or even a partial update.

The Surface Pro 2 firmware update appears to fix the issues users have been complaining about, including: the tablet going into sleep mode and draining the battery faster than expected. Other issues caused by the December 2013 firmware update, although it's unclear if this is the case.

Like every second Tuesday of the month, Microsoft released its Patch Tuesday earlier this week, but users found that the company only provided updates for Windows and the first-generation Surface Pro running Windows 8.0. And there were no official comments from the software giant other than that they will release the firmware update for Surface Pro 2 as soon as possible.

Mary Jo Foley also reports that some users on the Microsoft Answers forum have installed the January 18, 2014 firmware update on their Surface Pro 2 and that the previous issue (cold boot with a micro SD card still exists) is still present and it also causes high CPU usage. Microsoft has not yet commented and has not yet updated the Surface Pro 2 update history page. I will update the article as soon as new information is available from Microsoft.
