Microsoft's browser development team has confirmed that there will indeed be extensions for its Project Spartan web browser. The Internet Explorer successor will be bundled with all versions of Windows 10, including PCs, tablets, and phones. Until now, Google Chrome-like extensions for Spartan were a rumor, but the browser development team wrote on Twitter: "We are working on a plan for extensions for a future update of Project Spartan."

Microsoft offers extended support for Windows 10 if you pay
Internet Explorer currently supports add-ons, but they are not similar and do not function like extensions for Firefox and Chrome. Previous reports also suggest that Microsoft is working on implementing extensions that are almost exactly like those in Google Chrome. This means that developers who create extensions for Chrome will be able to easily port them to Project Spartan.
While Microsoft plans to make Spartan the preferred web browser in Windows 10, the company will continue to ship Internet Explorer for compatibility reasons. The new browser will use a brand new rendering engine called EDGE, which works similarly to Microsoft's Trident engine in IE11, signaling that the software giant is moving away from supporting older versions and focusing on the modern web.
