Microsoft is laying out plans to add and remove a number of features to the Edge browser after the launch of Windows 10 later this summer. This week, the software giant shared some details about what new features will be added and what will be removed from the Microsoft Edge browser once Windows 10 reaches RTM.
According to a presentation slide, Microsoft plans to introduce extension support, including Skype, Reddit, and Pinterest. In addition, we will see more ways Cortana will be useful to users in the browser, and the software maker will integrate Object RTC and Pointer Lock.
In addition, as part of the transition to the modern web, Microsoft plans to remove some “legacy IE technologies,” including ActiveX, VBScript, and many more. This feature cut will reduce Microsoft Edge by 220,000 lines of code in MSHMTL.
