One of the design changes Microsoft made to the Surface Pro 3 compared to its predecessor was moving the Windows (Home) key to the side of the bezel. One of the main reasons for the change was that the Type Cover's new magnetic strip, which provides more stability, also blocks the key.

However, many Surface Pro 3 reviewers accidentally pressed the button while using the pen, which took them from the current application to the home screen.
