How can I view RAW images in Windows 7?
For the Microsoft Camera Codec Pack to work properly in Windows Live Photo Gallery, you must be running the latest version of Windows Live Essentials 2011. Users using this software should already be up to date, but you can check your version in the Help section. The version number should be 15.4.3538.0513 or higher. If not, you can download the latest version from http://explore.live.com.
The QFE2 update for Windows Live Photo Gallery allows the software to scan and determine if a supported RAW photo file format is present in the library. If so, it will prompt you to download the codec pack.
IMPORTANT: If you are already using another RAW codec from a manufacturer such as Canon or Nikon, Photo Gallery will not prompt you to install the codec pack.
