Unboxing the Microsoft HoloLens Development Edition | Mashable
On February 29, Microsoft announced that the HoloLens Development Edition Kit was available for pre-order. The kit costs $3,000 and is only available to a select group of people. The software giant began accepting applications for the development kit in October 2015 and will begin sending invitations today to developers applying to purchase the device.
HoloLens will begin shipping in the U.S. and Canada on March 30, 2016. Microsoft's Alex Kipman says the company will expand the device's availability "as we go forward."
In addition to the announcement, Microsoft also announced the technical specifications of the HoloLens.
