Today is Patch Tuesday, December 2013. This is the last batch of Windows updates of the year and Microsoft is releasing 11 updates, 5 of which are marked as critical and the remaining 6 as important. The critical updates close vulnerabilities in Windows 8.1, Windows RT 8.1, 7, XP and other versions of the operating system, Internet Explorer (6 through 11) and various other Microsoft products. The remaining important updates also aim to close potential remote execution vulnerabilities in Windows and various Microsoft products such as Office 2013, Microsoft Exchange and others.

How to update and install Surface drivers and firmware | Microsoft

Also on the final Patch Tuesday of 2013, all Microsoft Surface tablets will receive a final firmware update. In December, however, Surface 2 and Surface Pro 2 will receive the most updates. For example, Surface 2 will receive a fix for the screen dimming when the processor is working hard, there's a new update to support more external monitors, and also a fix for Bluetooth connectivity. And Surface Pro 2 will receive a wireless driver update, improved system stability and color fidelity in apps, and much more. Check out all the changes below:

Windows RT 8.0 and Windows RT 8.1

The updates will be rolled out shortly and you can perform the updates manually by going to Control Panel and clicking on "Windows Update" and then clicking on "Check for updates". Alternatively, you can wait until the next restart and the updates will be installed automatically.
