Windows 11: Upgrade from Windows 10 via Windows Update (official)
One of the two critical updates fixes memory corruption vulnerabilities in Internet Explorer for all versions, including IE 11. The other critical update addresses an issue with Microsoft DirectShow that could allow "specially crafted JPEG" images to remotely execute malicious code. These updates affect Windows 8.1, 8, RT, 7, Vista, Windows XP, and Windows 2003, 2008, and 2012.
The important updates resolve vulnerabilities in Silverlight, the Windows kernel-mode driver, and the Microsoft Remote Protocol that could allow malicious individuals to falsely validate a locked account.
Microsoft Surface tablets are once again receiving firmware updates as part of Patch Tuesday. Although there is no firmware update for the Surface RT, a new update called "System Firmware Update – 03/11/2014" will be available for the other tablets.
