It's that time again: On October 14, 2014, Microsoft released a total of eight security updates as part of its Patch Tuesday: three are classified as critical and the remaining five as important. They all fix 24 security vulnerabilities in Windows, Internet Explorer, Office, ASP.NET and .NET Framework.

Security fixes for Microsoft Edge are here and fix 8 security vulnerabilities!

The cumulative security update for Internet Explorer, dubbed KB2987107, fixes fourteen reported vulnerabilities in Microsoft's web browser. For Windows, there is an update dubbed KB3000061 that fixes two privately reported vulnerabilities in the operating system. The most severe vulnerability could allow attackers to trick users into opening specially crafted documents or visiting an untrusted website to remotely execute malicious code.

Update KB3000869 resolves a vulnerability in Windows OLE that could allow malicious code to run if the targeted user opens a Microsoft Office document that contains a specially crafted OLE object. KB30000434 resolves a vulnerability in Microsoft Office that could allow attackers to run malicious code if the user is tricked into opening a specially crafted Word document.
