Although Microsoft stopped selling Windows 7 to retailers back on October 30, 2013, exactly one year later, the company was also scheduled to stop selling Windows 7 with new PCs. Now, things are a little different, as the company announced that it mistakenly updated the "End of Sales" policy for Windows 7 and the software giant will actually continue selling the operating system to PC makers until further notice.

Windows 7 support ends January 10th! 2023! 😭😭😭😭😭 6th-7th time I've seen this after booting!
Essentially, this means that as of October 30, 2013, you probably won't be able to buy the operating system from your local retailer. However, you can buy a new PC with Windows 7 pre-installed, as the new "end of sale" date for the operating system on new PCs is now "tbd."
"We have yet to determine the end of sales date for PCs with Windows 7 pre-installed," Microsoft explains. "The October 30 date published worldwide on the Windows Lifecycle page last week was an error. We have since updated the site to reflect the correct information, [and] we apologize for any confusion this may have caused our customers. As more details about the Windows 7 lifecycle become available, we will share them."
"We confirm that October 30, 2013 was the end of sale date for Windows 7," the company adds.
