Windows 11 24H2: Unsupported hardware installation process (official)
The release of Windows 11 24H2 (2024 Update) has been a bit confusing, as Microsoft is rolling out the feature update in two parts. If you're wondering whether you should install the new version on your computer, the short answer is no, but only because it's not yet officially available for existing supported devices.
Microsoft released version 24H2 on June 18, but this version is only for the new Copilot+ PCs with Qualcomm's new ARM processor, as these new devices depend on many of the new components available in the latest version of the operating system. However, the feature update is not available for existing devices with x86 processors from Intel or AMD. The company is still working on the feature update, and it will only be available as an optional installation sometime in September. It should be officially available to everyone in October.
For this reason, I do not recommend installing the new version before it is officially available. Forcing the upgrade to Windows 11 24H2 early is still possible, but you may encounter bugs and other issues.
