Will Sony allow cross-network gaming with Microsoft?
Microsoft recently announced a major change to online gaming that will allow developers to build cross-network gaming support into games so Xbox One players can play with PS4 players. However, Sony will also have to side with Microsoft to provide support on the PlayStation Network.
Sony is now hinting that it may pursue the idea. "PlayStation supports cross-platform play between PCs on several software titles, starting with Final Fantasy 11 on PS2 and PC in 2002," the company said in a statement to GameStop. "We would be happy to speak with any publisher or developer interested in cross-platform play."
The response we received from Sony is not a direct confirmation that the company agrees with developers and Microsoft on supporting cross-network play, but it sends a strong signal that it is aware of all possibilities and is listening to them.
