This is the canceled Microsoft Surface Mini
According to the website WPDang, the new Surface Mini will adopt some of Kinect's features. According to the report, the 8-inch tablet will be able to recognize faces, which can be used as another form of authentication. The Surface Mini will also have hands-free gesture features for certain operations, similar to the gesture features of the Galaxy S4.
As for the Surface Mini's hardware specifications, the tablet could feature an 8-inch full HD 1920 x 1080 screen and either an ARM or Intel Bay Trail-based processor – the article is ambiguous about these hardware specifications -.
On a related note, Microsoft is also working on the "Update 1" software release for Windows 8.1, which is due out in Spring 2014 and will add support for smaller form factor Surface tablets. For this reason, we shouldn't expect to see a mini Surface before the release of this update.
