Microsoft has already released the Windows 10 Technical Preview Build 9860 and one of the big questions was whether the company would make an ISO version of the latest build available.

Windows 10 Technical Preview Build 9821 – Crazy Bug | 720p60

One of the main problems is that the Windows 10 preview is not a final product, as users are testing the operating system in many different ways. Data from Microsoft's Windows Insider program on Build 9860 shows that 41% of installations are on desktops, 32% on laptops, and 22% on virtual machines, while only 2% of installations are on tablets, 1% on all-in-ones, and the remaining 2% on other types.

Perhaps one of the easiest and safest ways to install Windows 10 is through a VHD or VHDX, which creates a dual-boot system with the latest version of Windows. However, users of this configuration will find that installing a new build on a virtual hard disk is not supported, so a preview ISO is ideal for creating a new dual-boot system with the latest version of Windows 10.

However, according to Microsoft's Gabe Aul, there will be no ISO download for Windows 10 Technical Preview 9860 and there is no indication that this will change in the future. Basically, every time you download the ISO file from the Windows Insider program, you will get the genuine version of Windows Technical Preview Build 9841 and will need to update to the latest build, whatever it may be at the time, once the installation is complete.
