Windows 11, 10: Find and use BitLocker recovery key to unlock PC
A new report from ZDNet suggests that this upcoming feature pack update is not just for Windows, but will be a platform update covering Windows client and server, Windows Phone, and Windows services (e.g. Outlook, SkyDrive, and others). The update is expected to be released gradually for each platform, rather than all at once.
Of course, this doesn't mean there won't be any more updates between now and then. Regular Patch Tuesday updates, fixes, and firmware updates will continue to be available as they become available for Windows 8, Windows RT, and the other platforms.
This is a big change on Microsoft's part, as the company has only released major updates every three years (and every six years if we include the release of Windows Vista) for over 20 years. The company's new direction is to try to stick to an annual update schedule and get the updates to people faster. According to a well-kept source told ZDNet, Microsoft could use the Windows Store to release Windows Blue.
