The FIRST version of Windows 10 – Windows 10 Build 10240
On July 15, 2015, Microsoft made Windows 10 Build 10240 available for both the Fast and Slow rings. Although the company has not officially announced it yet, Build 10240 is one of the versions that is already considered Windows 10 RTM.
Windows 10 Build 10240 brings additions and improvements over the last public preview, but doesn't include any major visual changes. At this point, it's just about fixing bugs and making the operating system stable for the July 29 release. There is one small change, however: In this build, Microsoft removes the watermark, but you can easily find out which version you're running by typing "winver" in the taskbar search box.
Among the new changes in this build, Microsoft is making several improvements to Microsoft Edge. According to the company, performance has been optimized, and in this build, Microsoft Edge performs better than Chrome and Safari on its own JavaScript benchmarks:
