Windows 10 Tech Preview: 10 hidden new features of the operating system
With the Technical Preview, Microsoft wanted to show businesses that they can still rely on Windows as a viable platform. In the builds the company made available, we saw a new Start menu, the return of apps to floating apps on the desktop, and many other features that make the operating system less confusing and more productive.
The Consumer Preview, which we now expect to launch in early 2015, will focus on consumers and the company is expected to start rolling out new features as early as late January/early February.
Although Microsoft is keeping quiet about the features planned for Windows 10, here's what's likely: According to a new report from WinBeta, the consumer version will feature a new "invisible" Start screen, a working version of the new Continuum mode, the arrival of Cortana on the desktop (though it's not clear if the digital assistant will appear publicly before the final release), and many more features.
