Although Microsoft is designing Windows 10 to run on all devices, including PCs, tablets and phones that use the same common Windows core, that doesn't necessarily mean that all device form factors will have the same features. Joe Belfiore, head of the Windows product definition and design team at Microsoft, has confirmed that devices under 8 inches running Windows 10 will not have the traditional desktop.

The news surfaced on Twitter, where Joe Belfiore noted that the desktop environment will only be available on Windows 10 devices with screens 8 inches and larger. Smaller devices like phones, small tablets, and phablets will have the desktop removed.
