How to permanently disable automatic Windows updates on Windows 10 (2021)

While it was just a rumor in the past, the new updated EULA included in Windows 10 Build 10240 shows that Windows 10 Home users cannot disable or opt out of automatic updates. According to Microsoft's licensing agreement, the Home edition of Windows 10 will automatically download and install all security patches, bug fixes, and even new features, whether users want them or not.

This is all part of Microsoft's initiative to develop "Windows as a Service," a new update model designed to keep users up to date and supported throughout the life of Windows 10.

This essentially means that the software maker relieves users of the hassle of having to maintain the operating system by downloading, installing, and restarting the computer when you're not using it. Of course, you can schedule a restart so the task doesn't interrupt your work, but those are all the options Windows 10 Home users have for Windows Update.
