If you're a change conscious person like me, you're probably already fine using the Start screen in Windows 8.1 on your PC or tablet. However, as you may have noticed, Microsoft is experimenting with new features in Windows 10. One of them is the new Start menu, which many customers and businesses have been requesting.

So if you prefer to use the Windows 8.1 Start screen rather than the Start menu, Microsoft added an option in Technical Preview to bring it back. However, it should be noted that modern Universal apps will still open on the desktop and not in full screen like in Windows 8. Also, enabling the Start screen in Windows 10 won't bring back the modern version of Internet Explorer.
1. Click Start, type Navigation Properties, and select the item from the results.
2. Navigate to the Start menu, uncheck the “Use the Start menu instead of the Start screen” box, and then click OK.
