How to permanently disable automatic Windows updates on Windows 10 (2021)
In Windows 10, updates are important to keep your device and files secure and to improve the overall experience. However, sometimes updates can fail due to compatibility or other issues.
However, a new documentation page from Microsoft (via Windows Latest) explains that starting with the May 2019 Update, version 1903, Windows 10 will attempt to fix this issue by automatically uninstalling the problematic update if your device fails to boot after an update and the automatic repair mechanism cannot recover your system.
Additionally, after removing the update, you will receive a notification saying "We removed some recently installed updates to help recover your device from a boot failure." Additionally, Windows 10 will block the problematic update from being automatically installed again for the next 30 days. This should be enough time until the next patch with a fix for the problem is released.
