Windows 10: How to Reinstall USB to SSD or HDD in 2024 (Ultimate Guide)
If you notice that new versions of Windows 10 install faster with each release, it's because Microsoft has introduced changes to reduce downtime during the installation process.
In a new article on the Windows Insider blog, the software giant reveals that the downtime (the time a user cannot use the device during installation) was an average of 82 minutes with the original release of Windows 10 version 1703 (Creators Update). Then, when version 1709 (Fall Creators Update) was released, the downtime reduced to 51 minutes. Now, the company claims that with the new changes, the downtime has reduced even further and that with Windows 10 version 1803 (Spring Creators Update), users will only experience 30 minutes of downtime.
Since the release of the Creators Update, these new changes have resulted in a 63 percent reduction in downtime during an upgrade process.
