Windows 10 will not be free for individual pirates
Microsoft will do whatever it takes to keep its users on Windows 10. The software giant has just announced that any PC running Windows will be upgraded to Windows 10 for free, regardless of whether it is a legal copy or a pirated version of the operating system.
Terry Myerson, head of Microsoft's operating system team, told Reuters that Microsoft will "upgrade all qualified PCs, whether genuine or not, to Windows 10."
It's unclear what Myerson really meant by "qualified." In the past, the software maker confirmed that current genuine versions of Windows 7, Windows 8 and Windows 8.1 are eligible for a free upgrade. The second condition was that users must upgrade within the first year of Windows 10's release to receive a free upgrade.
