New Windows 11 Build 22635.3936 – New Open With dialog, new setting changes, and fixes (Beta)
Microsoft is rolling out the preview build 22635.3936 for Windows 11 in the Beta Channel as update KB5040535. The update is small, but contains some interesting interface changes and new settings.
According to the official notes published on July 22, 2024, Windows 11 Build 22635.3936 introduces a new "Open With" menu design that no longer shows the group of apps that can open a file. Instead, you now have to click "More apps" to see the apps and access the "Choose an app on your PC" option.
In addition, a new "Browse apps in Microsoft Store" feature will open the Store to find the correct app that will open the file. The only problem with this new design is that you usually don't need to install any other application. You just need to select the app already installed on the computer and this change will entice users to open the Store more often and probably download apps they don't need. However, sometimes it is necessary to install another app to open a specific file. But usually you need a third-party app that is not available in the Microsoft Store.
