AMD and Lenovo present Windows 11 devices with Microsoft Pluton
Microsoft has partnered with AMD to integrate its Pluton processor into the latest Ryzen 6000 series processors. And Lenovo will be the first computer maker to use this technology on the new ThinkPad Z series laptops with Windows 11.
Pluton is a security chip that Microsoft introduced in 2020 to improve device security based on the security already available on Xbox and Azure Sphere devices. However, it is not a standalone silicon. Instead, it is a new chip integrated into a processor (in this case, the Ryzen 6000 series mobile processors) to replace the Trusted Platform Module (TPM).
The idea behind Pluton is to tightly integrate hardware and software to prevent new and future attacks, such as those we saw with the Spectre and Meltdown hardware vulnerabilities.
