Windows 11: First look at the NEW Paint app
After many years and no success in replacing it with the Paint 3D app, Microsoft is creating a new version of its Paint app for Windows 11. As part of its continued efforts to bring the default apps into line with the new design language, the company is updating Paint with a new user interface with rounded corners, new materials for the frame, and support for dark mode.
The Paint app isn't available yet, but Panos Panay, head of Windows and devices at Microsoft, teased the new design in a short Twitter video. The video showed that the app includes a similar command bar as the legacy version of the app already available on Windows 10. However, the experience has been redesigned with improved brush selections, fonts, a color picker, and more. Additionally, the canvas is now aligned to the center of the app.
Aside from the UI updates, the Paint app remains unchanged. It's unclear when the app will be available to testers, but it shouldn't be long before Microsoft replaces it in one of the previews of Windows 11.
