Windows 11 Build 22523: One step closer to removing Control Panel
Windows 11 is finally getting serious about killing off the Control Panel. Although Microsoft has been porting features into the modern Settings app experience since Windows 10, it's been a slow transition. However, since the release of the first version of Windows 11 and starting active development on the next feature update, we're seeing the company now more aggressively focusing on killing off the old Control Panel.
For example, in Windows 11 Build 22523, Microsoft removed the Programs and Features and Uninstall Updates pages from the Control Panel. Now, clicking on these links in the modern version opens the corresponding settings of the Settings app. While this may not seem significant, it's because these are important features for installing and uninstalling apps and updates.
Additionally, starting with Build 22523, the Settings app finally adds a page to uninstall updates. And in recent previews, the Apps & Features pages have been split into two separate pages, including Installed Apps and Advanced App Settings, and both pages received various improvements.
