Windows 11: Upgrade from Windows 10 via Windows Update (official)
Microsoft seems to have finally fixed the performance issues with certain hard drives on Windows 11. Although the company had already released a cumulative update last December to fix a bug that caused NVMe SSDs and HDDs to run significantly slower than intended, the issue was not properly addressed (according to user reports).
According to Windows Latest, the bug is still present even after the company deployed the December 2021 and January 2022 updates. However, the upcoming February update (KB5008353) seems to have finally fixed the bug.
The official changelogs for update KB5008353 explain that the patch "fixes a performance degradation issue that occurs when you enable the Update Sequence Number (USN) journal," which is a storage device-related issue.
