It seems that the Windows 11 recall is still ongoing – Microsoft says testing will start again in October
Microsoft hasn't given up on its Recall AI feature for Windows 11. The company now says it will be available as a preview for testers in October. Originally, the software giant wanted to make Recall available as a main selling feature for the Copilot+ PCs, but due to security concerns, the feature didn't make it there, and the ARM-based devices shipped without the most anticipated feature.
The company first showcased Windows Recall at its Surface and Windows press event, but shortly after the event, it was revealed that the feature poses many security risks because the snapshots and database are easily accessible and stored in plain text, which could make it easier for hackers to attack this data and steal your information using malicious applications.
Due to security and privacy concerns, Microsoft removed the feature from preview builds of Windows 11 on June 13, saying it would need more time to ensure the feature could provide a trustworthy experience. However, after a few months, the company promised that a new preview would be released in October, but only for testers using Copilot+ PCs.
