Today Microsoft released the latest Release Candidate (RC) for Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 Service Pack 1 (SP1). As everyone knows, the Release Candidate or RC is the previous version released before the final version, the Release to Manufacture or RTM phase.

While SP1 can help you keep your computer up to date, this Windows Service Pack does not include any new features for Windows 7. This release includes all the updates already available on Windows Update for Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008. The only new features added in SP1 are on the server side and are virtualization-related features: Dynamic Memory, which allows servers running Hyper-V for server virtualization to dynamically adjust virtual machine memory usage as needed, making the server more efficient, and RemoteFX, which provides a local experience to remote users through Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI). In addition, RemoteFX supports a wide variety of USB devices to improve productivity in a virtual environment.

If you want to wait until the final release, you can expect the Service Pack (SP1) sometime in the first quarter of 2011.
