Another new feature on the list of new features for Microsoft's next operating system. In a blog post at Building Windows 8, the software manufacturer introduced its Hyper-V technology, which was previously only included in the server editions of Windows and will now be part of the Windows 8 client.

Hyper-V is an important technology that enables virtualization, allowing users to run multiple operating systems (32-bit or 64-bit) simultaneously on the same computer. This is a great approach that helps developers and other users who don't have access to a full suite of labs to accommodate many computers – virtualization can be worth it in terms of cost, time and space savings.

Microsoft also briefly talked about the VHDX virtual hard disk format, which is also supported in the client version of Windows 8. This is a new virtual disk format that can support disks of up to 16 TB, significantly more than the 2 TB currently supported in the VHD format.
