The countdown begins… Microsoft announced this week that Windows 8 will finally be available on October 26, 2012 – if you want to put a note in your calendar, that's a Friday. The announcement was made by Steven Sinofsky at the company's annual sales conference, and he also posted the news on the Windows blog. The Windows 8 rollout will apply to new PC installations and upgrades too. We already knew Microsoft was planning the October launch, we just didn't know the exact day, but now we do!
