Hands-on experience with Windows 10 Build 14361: Start menu, Windows Ink, Settings UI
Although Windows has included pen support since XP, Microsoft hasn't really focused on making digital ink a major part of the operating system. Annotating and drawing with a pen has improved over the years, but it's not until the release of the Windows 10 Anniversary Update that we'll see Microsoft invest heavily in developing more powerful ink support.
Windows Ink is simply the new name Microsoft is using for its existing digital ink support, which the company will continue to improve and make an integral part of the operating system from now on.
The Anniversary Update will also make it easier for developers to integrate Windows Ink support into their UWP apps. In addition, Microsoft is introducing its own Ink Workspace in Windows 10, which will be the starting point for users to use the pen.
